About Cranial-Nerve Dysfunction

Every dysfunction starts with an interruption or alteration within cranial-nerve connections, which can lead to retained reflexes in a child. These retained reflexes mean that movement sequences that are programmed into a baby’s development in utero and during the first year or so of life are not inhibited; thus, they are retained.

Children with retained reflexes are more likely to have developmental delays in gross-motor skills and fine-motor skills, which can lead to a host of other problems later on such as neurodevelopmental disorders, speech delays, social delays, emotional delays and problems with academic performance.
