Parenting Through Your Child’s Healing Process

by

We interviewed Christine Koehler PhD, Licensed Professional Counselor and Registered Play Therapist Supervisor, about parenting your child through the healing process. You can watch the replay below.

Children with neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism, ADHD, Sensory Processing Disorder and learning disabilities often have more complex social and emotional needs than their neurotypical counterparts.

It is a challenge in and of itself to parent these children, but when the additional challenge of recovering the health of these children is added in, it can make a parent feel like she needs to be SuperMom.

In this webinar, Christine Koehler PhD discussed:

  • How parenting really has become more challenging
  • How children really have become more complex
  • How we have less consensus between parents, educators, and pediatric professionals
  • How to create balance and build resilience as you navigate through your child’s healing process

About Chrstine Koehler PhD LPC-S

Dr. Chrstine Koehler has received advanced training in clinical psychology as well as a doctorate in counseling. When she encountered more and more children struggling with ADHD and other neurodevelopmental disorders, she noticed that children were often being diagnosed and medicated without a thorough explanation.

Because of this, Dr. Koehler felt an urgency to find better answers. Her goal was to understand the whole child to include mind, body, relationships, and environment throughout the process of diagnosis and treatment.

She sought additional training from multidisciplinary professionals and authors through EpidemicAnswers.org and was provided with solid explanations that satisfied her questions regarding children’s diagnosis and treatment of neurodevelopmental disorders. “The key is identifying and treating root causes of conditions, not just symptom supression.”

She treats a wide range of children’s mental health difficulties and works with parents to develop an integrated, prioritized treatment plan designed to maximize progress. She is licensed in the state of Texas as an LPC-S and Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor.
