Jin Shin Jyutsu

Jin Shin Jyutsu® brings health and harmony to body, mind and spirit, enhancing our body’s natural ability to heal.

Origins Of Jin Shin Jyutsu

Jin Shin Jyutsu, physio-philosophy, is an ancient art of harmonizing the flow of life energy in the body.

Master Jiro Murai re-discovered Jin Shin Jyutsu in the early 1900’s in Japan when he cleared himself of a life threatening illness.

He then devoted the rest of his life to the research and development of Jin Shin Jyutsu for future generations.

The teachings of this “Art of Living” consist of a philosophical and a practical level rooted in the laws of nature.

His student, Mary Burmeister, brought this knowledge from Japan to the United States in the 1950’s.

What Is Jin Shin Jyutsu?

Our bodies contain thousands of energy pathways that feed life into our cells.

These distinct pathways, known in Jin Shin Jyutsu as flows, unify and integrate the body.

When one or more of these flows becomes “jammed”, this may result in discomfort, pain or other symptoms in our body, mind or emotions.

Jin Shin Jyutsu helps clear these “traffic jams” and prevent further dis-harmony and dis-ease by detoxifying, balancing and regenerating our whole being.

Jin Shin Jyutsu enhances breathing and activates our body’s innate ability to heal.

How Does Jin Shin Jyutsu Work?

Jin Shin Jyutsu is a living system.

Its practice requires placing your hands on your own body or another person touching you.

Jin Shin Jyutsu practitioners call it “jumper cabling” because our “life battery” needs to be charged just like a car battery.

Our hands are the “jumper cables” connecting us to the universal energy flowing through each of us.

Jin Shin Jyutsu accesses the intelligence of 26 Safety Energy Locks located on the left and right side of our body.

These 3-dimensional areas are about the size of a child or adult’s palm, depending on the person.

Safety Energy Locks act as circuit breakers to protect our body when the flow of life energy is jammed.

Jin Shin Jyutsu speaks of five major attitudes, or repetitive patterns of thoughts and feelings that can be helped by gently holding our fingers.

The attitudes and respective fingers are:

  • Worry (thumb)
  • Fear (index)
  • Anger (middle)
  • Sadness (ring)
  • Pretense or trying to (little)

Simultaneously, our fingers harmonize our organs and spine.

Jin Shin Jytusu with A Practitioner

Jin Shin Jyutsu is very nurturing and people often experience a deep state of relaxation as built-up tension is released though gentle touch.

A person receiving a session lays face up, fully clothed, on a padded massage table.

Babies and children can be in their parent’s arms, or in the comfort of their own bed if home visits are made.

The child can be asleep, playing with a small toy, chatting or reading a book during the session.

Hands are placed on the Safety Energy Locks, fingers, toes or spine according to very specific flow patterns.

However, the choice of flows used – one out of thousands – is up to the practitioner during each session, depending on the situation.

The practitioner can easily adapt the location of their hands to accommodate children (or adults) who are sensitive to touch or need to move.

Jin Shin Jyutsu and Self-Help

We naturally place our hands on our body throughout the day.

For example, we hold a place that hurts, rest our hand on our cheek or forehead when we are thinking, or touch someone’s shoulder to calm them.

In fact, we are doing Jin Shin Jyutsu all the time without even realizing we are doing something.

However, to truly help ourselves we need to learn the system of self-help.

This can be done with a practitioner or through classes and books.

Jin Shin Jyutsu self-help uniquely provides parents with a natural, calming way to help their child at any time.

Daily life improves as the parent gains awareness of how to use their hands on their child, themselves or even their pets.

Children of all ages can easily learn which fingers or body areas to hold for different reasons.

Jin Shin Jyutsu self-help empowers each of us to take care of our own health.

It can be done anywhere and at anytime – on the bus, watching TV, in bed, etc. All you need are your hands.

Why Jin Shin Jyutsu?

An underlying harmony exists within each one of us even if we have a dis-harmony, dis-ease or dis-ability.

Jin Shin Jyutsu shows us a way to discover this.

It helps improve our physical, emotional, mental and spiritual such as:

  • Calming our nervous system
  • Alleviating pain or discomfort from headaches, body tension or digestive issues
  • Easing insomnia or anxiety
  • Improving our attention and focus
  • Detoxing from medications or toxins
  • Strengthening our immune system and vitality

Jin Shin Jyutsu helps us in everyday life to relieve stress, feel more connected and grounded, shift our mood or attitude, quiet our mind, balance our emotions and help us cope with difficult situations.

Jin Shin Jyutsu is cumulative, so the more you do it the more it helps.

This is why receiving sessions and practicing daily self-help is so important for our overall health and well being, and as a preventative measure.

Our health and happiness is literally in our own hands with Jin Shin Jytutsu.
