Color, Sound and Light Therapies

What Are Color, Sound and Light Therapies?

Color, sound and light therapies, under the umbrella of vibrational or energy medicine, uphold the principle that all matter vibrates to a specific frequency. As science moves into quantum physics, Einstein’s theory that every living thing produces an electromagnetic field with a vibrational frequency and all energy and matter are interchangeable and transferable is now verifiable.

Imbalances in our body have certain frequencies, and color, sound and light therapies can rebalance these frequencies to restore health and wellness.

People have utilized sound, color, and light therapies to treat chronic illness for centuries. The therapeutic use of sounds, vibrations, colored lights, colored cloth and other delivery methods induce change in the body on a physical, emotional and cellular level to help improve chronic symptoms in both adults and children.

What Does Color Therapy Do?

The use of various color therapies can be traced back over 5,000 years ago in many cultures such as ancient Egyptians, Ayurvedics, Chinese, Native Americans and Tibetans.

The physics and psychology of color can be very powerful. Everything on earth is profoundly affected by light waves because the entire spectrum of colors is derived from light.

Sunlight contains all wavelengths, which have their own frequency and produce their own specific energy with their own specific beneficial effects. In fact, in ancient Chinese medical systems, the twelve major color wavelengths correlate directly with the body’s twelve meridians (the bio-electrical pathways).

Light consists of seven colors: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. These colors contain energy vibrations with healing properties and each color has the potential to affect our moods, emotions, states of mind and physical health.

Red

Red enhances physical force, strength, sexual power and courage. It is useful to stimulate, energize and strengthen vitality and will power. It also stimulates circulation and hemoglobin and raises body temperature.

Orange

Orange relieves depression and has healing properties for the spleen, pancreas, adrenals, and kidneys. It also heals gout, inflamed joints or rheumatic aches, asthma, bronchitis and coughs.

Yellow

Yellow stimulates the brain and the nerve centers improving knowledge and intelligence. It has healing properties for the stomach, the intestines and the liver.

Green

Green is the color of love, balance, healing, cell growth and cellular activity. It has healing properties for the sympathetic nervous system and the heart and helps to normalize blood pressure or cardiac conditions. Green also helps to heal influenza and respiratory conditions.

Blue

Blue is calming, relaxing and cooling and helps induce sleep. Its healing properties are useful to reduce fevers and high blood pressure. It is good for throat problems, stops bleeding, headaches, vomiting, hysteria, acute rheumatism and insomnia.

Indigo

Indigo inspires and helps broaden the mind, stimulates the pineal gland and influences organs of sight, hearing and smell. It is also helpful to free the mind from fears and inhibitions.

Violet

Violet is a metaphysical color that is soothing and tranquil and linked to the pituitary gland, the center of spiritual understanding. It is considered the highest vibration of all colors and sound colors. Its healing properties are useful for all mental and nervous disorders. Healers use it to neutralize neurosis and neurotic manifestations.

What Do Sound and Light Therapy Do?

Light Therapy

Light therapy depends upon the various speeds that light moves and how light therapy creates light wave frequencies (color) which are healing to the body. Light enters into the body through the eyes and the skin and plays an important role in stimulating and supporting the immune system, the endocrine (hormonal) system, the pineal gland (sleep) and other organs.

Sound Therapy

Sound therapy is beautiful music to the ears that can heal the soul by calming down anxiety, nervousness, anger and alleviating depression. The intensity of sound can bring harmony and resonance.

Many children, especially those on the autism spectrum, respond to sound in many forms such as:

  • Tuning forks
  • Quartz crystal bowls
  • Radionics
  • Music
  • Chanting
  • Tibetan bowls
  • Rife Technologies (frequencies)

Sound and Light Therapy

Sound and light therapy:

  • Improves the state of mind
  • Gives sense of relaxation and calmness
  • Increases focus and concentration
  • Reduces anxiety
  • Decreases muscle tension
  • Enhances immune function
  • Increases endorphin levels
  • Balances brainwave activity
  • Increases creativity and visualization
  • Improves memory

What Are the Different Types of Sound and Light Therapy?

Full Spectrum Light Therapy

This type of therapy uses both the visible light spectrum (the sun) and the invisible spectrum of light such as ultraviolet or infrared light for healing. Full spectrum light therapy has been effective in:

  • Improving emotional well-being
  • Improving brain functioning
  • Improving hormonal imbalances
  • Improving sleep cycles
  • Supporting healthy moods
  • Decreasing anxiety
  • Decreasing seasonal affective disorder (SAD)
  • Helping to heal drug and alcohol addiction

Vibrational Light and Sound Therapies

These therapies use light and sound wave frequencies that correspond to acupuncture meridians or the chakra system. The twelve colors of the visible light spectrum and the twelve sound intervals of the musical scale can restore a state of harmony by releasing blockages and correcting emotional, physical, psychological and spiritual imbalances.

Audio Visual Stimulation Techniques

Examples of these techniques are:

  • Guided hypnotherapy
  • Meditation
  • Brainwave entrainment technology
  • Binaural beats
  • Light and sound machines
  • Color therapy
  • Full spectrum light bulbs

  • Reducing stress
  • Increasing energy levels
  • Chakra balancing
  • Trauma healing
  • Overcoming fears
  • Improving depression
  • Pain management
  • Improvement in sleep disorders
  • Improvement in mental clarity
