Patricia Lemer Retires from Epidemic Answers Board

Patricia Lemer, better known as Patty, has served the families and communities of children with educational and developmental challenges for over 40 years.

She holds a Masters of Education in Counseling and Learning Disabilities, a Masters of Business, and a license as a Professional Counselor.

Patty practiced as an educational diagnostician, mostly in the Washington, DC area, and for a short time in Pittsburgh, where she now lives. She has authored three books on healing autism. The latest book, an updated and much expanded version of Outsmarting Autism, will be released in March, 2019.

Patty has been called upon as a lecturer and consultant internationally. From 2012-2014, she helped launch a center for young adults with disabilities in Kuwait. In 1993, she co-founded and became the Executive Director of Developmental Delay Resources (DDR), one of the first non-profit organizations to address the needs of families with autism, before there was an internet. They published a quarterly newsletter and held periodic conferences.

In 2013, Patty merged DDR with Epidemic Answers and served as the Board Chair for three years and then as Treasurer. Over 400 articles from DDR newsletters have been updated, and are now on the Epidemic Answers website. She created two modules for the Epidemic Answers Health Coach Training Program. Her book, Outsmarting Autism, has been integrated into the program.

It is the shoulders of pioneers in the field of child development like Patty Lemer that Epidemic Answers stands upon. We are grateful for the advancements she’s made for families and professionals dealing with child development and educational issues, appreciate her dedication to Epidemic Answers, and wish Patty the best in her retirement as well as with her new book being published this spring.
