Anesthesia and Autism

Anesthesia and Autism

Parent advocate Alyssa Davi explains the risks of anesthesia and autism in this article. The purpose of this article is to highlight the medical issues surrounding anesthesia and autism so parents are better informed prior to their child having a procedure that requires it. In addition, parents need to be aware that some children have regressed into autism after undergoing anesthesia or sedation. Procedures such as endoscopies, colonoscopies and ear tube placement are all common medical procedures that require anesthesia or sedation. It is important to know the associated risks before anesthesia and or sedation is selected and before the procedure takes place. This is important because there is very little knowledge in the general medical community about the link between mitochondrial disease, autism and anesthesia/sedation risks. Some children have an undiagnosed mitochondrial disorder which impairs energy production and makes anesthesia selection, procedures and precautions even more critical. With anesthesia there are always some associated risks and even being cautious,…

Soft Signs of a Compromised Immune System

Soft Signs of a Compromised Immune System

We interviewed Beth Lambert and Patricia Lemer about soft signs of a compromised immune system, which are red flags of your child’s health. Soft signs are symptoms that affect the immune system. Typical soft signs are: One or two red cheeks after eating Chronic runny nose or cough Chronic mouth breathing Recurrent ear infections Chronic or recurrent sinus infections Cradle cap Dark circles or bags surrounding the eyes Colic, excessive crying or irritability in babies Chronic constipation or diarrhea Food sensitivities, intolerances and/or allergies These soft signs indicate that the immune system is dysfunctional, which can happen for many reasons such as birthing practices, antibiotics, diet and toxicity. Soft signs often precede more complicated diagnoses such as: Autism ADHD Allergies Asthma Autoimmune disorders Developmental delays Dyspraxia and apraxia Failure to thrive Emotional, behavioral and mood symptoms Learning disabilities PANS/PANDAS Sensory Processing Disorder Speech and language issues Because these symptoms many times precede these diagnoses, it indicates that even neurodevelopmental disorders…

The Importance of Preconception and Prenatal Care

We interviewed registered dietitian Vicki Kobliner about the importance of preconception and prenatal care in the age of chronic childhood diseases. Because Vicki works with many children with autism, ADHD and other neurodevelopmental disorders, her passion is educating potential mothers about preparing their bodies for conception so that their children don’t end up as another statistic in the growing epidemic of chidren’s chronic diseases and disorders. Over 54% of American children have some form of chronic illness, whether it’s autism, ADHD, allergies, asthma, autoimmune disorders, mood disorders, diabetes or obesity. When that many kids are sick, it’s time to take a look at helping potential mothers understand that their toxicity, gut dysbiosis, nutritional deficiencies and stress responses can get passed onto their children. What’s Causing the Peanut Allergy Epidemic?

What’s Causing the Peanut Allergy Epidemic?

We interviewed Heather Fraser, author of The Peanut Allergy Epidemic, about what’s causing the peanut allergy epidemic and what can be done about it. Peanut anaphylaxis, the severe and life-threatening allergy to peanuts, is something that every parent dreads for their child. Heather became intimately involved with the peanut-allergy epidemic after her child had an anaphylactic reaction to peanut butter. Heather examined the clues and potential causes of this epidemic which she told us about in this interview. We talked about: Why the peanut allergy epidemic only seems to be found in Western cultures Why there was a sharp rise in this epidemic around 1990 What is the cause of this epidemic, and do pharmaceuticals play a role What can be done about peanut allergies Please note that you will be asked to enter your email address at the 30-minute mark to finish viewing the video. RoundUp, GMOs, Autism, ADHD and Other Autoimmune Conditions

We interviewed Stephanie Seneff PhD, a senior research scientist at MIT, about RoundUp, GMOs, autism, ADHD and other autoimmune conditions. Dr. Seneff is well known for her published, peer-reviewed research articles about the dangers of GMOs and the pesticide that is sprayed on them, RoundUp (glyphosate). Sometimes, it’s not necessarily the food that’s making our children sick, it’s what’s been done to it. Dr. Seneff’s research reviews how GMOs and RoundUp cause pathology in the body that can lead to: Neurodevelopmental damage Gut dysbiosis Inflammation Enzyme suppression Toxicity Nutritional deficiencies Her research indicates that sulfate deficiency throughout the body caused by toxic environmental chemicals is behind most modern diseases and conditions. Join us as Dr. Seneff explained how these factors contribute to conditions as seemingly diverse as autism, allergies, celiac, Alzheimer’s and cancer. The Dangers of EMFs

We interviewed Dr. Devra Davis, founder and president of the Environmental Health Trust, about the dangers of EMFs (electromagnetic frequencies). Electronic devices are both a blessing and a curse. In this webinar, Dr. Davis discussed the dangers of EMFs and what you can do lower your family’s health risk from them. Please note that you will be asked to enter your email address at the 30-minute mark to finish viewing the video. The Hidden Link Between Vision and Learning

The Hidden Link Between Vision and Learning

The Hidden Link Between Vision and Learning

We interviewed Wendy Beth Rosen, author of The Hidden Link Between Vision and Learning: Why Millions of Learning-Disabled Children Are Misdiagnosed. The symptoms of many vision problems can mimic disorders such as dyslexia and ADHD. Vision-related learning problems affect 25% of school-age children, yet knowledge about these types of vision problems is scant. There is a difference between vision and eyesight, and there’s more to vision than 20/20. Wendy learned these facts when she found out that her own daughter fell below grade level in written expression. It turns out that she had a previously undiagnosed condition that caused her to see double, which made it difficult for her to track lines of print on a page. Please note that you will be asked to enter your email address at the 30-minute mark to finish viewing the video. The Five Archetypes and Stress

The Five Archetypes and Stress

The Five Archetypes and Stress

We interviewed Carey Davidson, author of The Five Archetypes, about the five archetypes of Traditional Chinese Medicine as they relate to stress. In many schools of Chinese Medicine, the elements Fire, Earth, Metal Water, and Wood are the foundation of how nature grows and evolves. They are believed to help us understand everything from illness and healing to the fundamental processes of child development—and they continue to inform Chinese medicine practice today. According to Carey Davidson, each of the five elements can also be seen as a personality archetype—and inside all of us is a unique blend of these archetypes that serves as a window into living a more fulfilling life on every level. By knowing the personality traits associated with each type and using what Carey calls the Five Archetypes method, you can actually start to predict your behavioral patterns. Listen in as Carey Davidson explains how each of the Five Archetypes deals with stress and how it affects…
