What's Making Our Children Sick?

What’s Making Our Children Sick?

What's Making Our Children Sick?

We interviewed Michelle Perro MD, co-author of What’s Making Our Children Sick?: How Industrial Food Is Causing an Epidemic of Chronic Illness, and What Parents (and Doctors) Can Do About It. This book explores the links between genetically modified foods (GMOs), glyphosate, and gut health. What if toxicants in our foods are a major culprit, one that, if corrected, could lead to tangible results and increased health? In this webinar you will learn about: New medical insights about pathogenesis of chronic pediatric disorders Gut dysfunction The microbiome The politics of food science The link between higher-yield, cost-efficient foods and an explosion of childhood morbidity A toxic food supply Insight on the medical responses that are available, both to heal our kids and to reverse the compromised health of our food supply In the webinar, Dr. Perro provided interesting insight into how removing pesticides and genetically modified foods from the diet by eating organic foods has led to significant improvements in her patients’ health,…

Family Constellations

Family Constellations

Family Constellations

We interviewed Mary Rentschler, MEd and MNRI specialist about family constellations. German psychotherapist Bert Hellinger’s family constellations begin with the idea that instead of originating in an individual‘s biographical history from birth to the present, dysfunction and suffering often relate to painful events in the family‘s past. One may become “entangled” in the difficult fate of an ancestor and unconsciously draw unhappiness, failure, addiction or illness into one‘s own life. The purpose of family constellations is to reveal the hidden dynamic of such a situation and point the way toward resolution. Family constellations address the fourth (intuitive) level of Dietrich Klinghardt’s five-level model of health. Please note that you will be asked to enter your email address at the 30-minute mark to finish viewing the video. About Mary Rentschler, MEd Mary Rentschler, MEd, has been involved with constellations since 2001. Formerly a special educator for learning disabled and severely emotionally disturbed children, she brings decades of professional experience in learning and emotional…

Brain Under Attack Authors' Discussion

Brain Under Attack Authors’ Discussion

Brain Under Attack Authors' Discussion

We hosted a panel discussion with the authors of Brain Under Attack: A Resource for Parents and Caregivers of Children with PANS, PANDAS, and Autoimmune Encephalitis, about PANS, PANDAS and Autoimmune Encephalitis. PANS (Pediatric Acute-onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome) is a newer diagnosis that your child’s pediatrician or psychiatrist may not be aware of. It is a disorder that is loosely defined as a sudden onset of acute anxiety and mood variability accompanied by OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) and/or tics. PANS includes not only PANDAS (Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Streptococcal Infections), but also diagnoses such as Lyme disease, OCD and ODD. Another way to think of PANS, as well as any neurodevelopmental disorder such as autism, ADD/ADHD, Sensory Processing Disorder and even learning disabilities, is that these disorders may fall under the larger umbrella of Autoimmune Encephalitis (AE), which is a swelling of the brain. In this timely webinar, you’ll learn the answers to these questions: What are PANS, PANDAS and Autoimmune Encephalitis? What…

Obstructive Sleep Apnea and ADD/ADHD

Obstructive Sleep Apnea and ADD/ADHD

Obstructive Sleep Apnea and ADD/ADHD

We interviewed Elizabeth Walker DMD, MSD to discuss the relationship of obstructive sleep apnea and ADD/ADHD. At least 70% of children who snore have obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Many of these children are frequently diagnosed as having ADD or ADHD and are typically placed on medication when in fact their problems may be caused by sleep deprivation. Children with OSA may exhibit the following symptoms: Poor concentration Hyperactivity Speech delays Sleep disturbances Facial formation Chronic headaches Feeding issues Irritability As can be seen from the symptoms above, there is a lot of overlap between obstructive sleep apnea and ADD/ADHD. Orthodontics centered around breathing, also known as “airway orthodontics”, addresses the root cause for children who snore or have apnea and can prevent it in children who don’t. In addition, airway orthodontics can improve symptoms of ADD or ADHD and thus proclude the need for pharmaceutical intervention. Please note that you will be asked to enter your email address at the 30-minute…

MTHFR and Other SNPs That Can Affect Health

MTHFR and Other SNPs That Can Affect Health

We interviewed Kendra Becker-Mussante (the “genetic genius”) about MTHFR and other SNPs (genetic mutations) that can affect health. With the mapping of the human genome in recent years, a lot of research has gone into understanding how some genetic differences called SNPs (Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms) play a role in the etiology of disease and chronic health conditions. Dr. Kendra Becker-Mussante joined us to educate us about some of the more commonly known mutations that can affect kids with autism, ADHD, SPD, autoimmune disorders, allergies and asthma. Some of the SNPs we discussed are: MTHFR CBS SUOX COMT GAD65 Dr. Becker discussed how “genetics loads the gun, but environment pulls the trigger“, meaning that just because you or your child has one or more of these mutations does not necessarily mean that a disease or chronic health condition will occur. Instead, Dr. Becker revealed how diet and lifestyle interventions can affect the expression of these genes and improve health outcomes. Please…

Are You Hijacking Your Healing?

Are You Hijacking Your Healing?

Are You Hijacking Your Healing?

We interviewed Marilee Nelson of Branch Basics about hijacking your healing. She had a “positive rebellion” after she was told by her doctor that “Your surgery was unsuccessful, you will need to go on dialysis and eventually have a kidney transplant and you will never be able to get pregnant”. Marilee discovered that there are many things affecting our health such as the Standard American Diet (SAD) and exposures to everyday toxins; she eventually recovered her own health as well as that of her son (the “bubble boy”.) Marilee learned that many things that seem to be an inconvenient truth are in reality an amazing opportunity. In this webinar you’ll learn: Why food issues and diets are so confusing How to evaluate the toxicity of a product (hint: “non-toxic” on a label isn’t good enough) How keeping something in your house unused can be the one thing that is hampering health because it contributes to the “low-level chemical soup” How…
